Scotland 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Zermatt Silver

I’m impressed and surprised that some folks have had so few punctures! Having had plenty of flat tyres in my time and a period where I always carried two spares (and frequently needed both), I am pleased that punctures nowadays do seem to be a much less frequent occurrence. Would I be correct in guessing that those who’ve never had punctures, never drove with tubed tyres? 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

I once convinced someone that if you filled your bike inner tubes with milk as you cycled the churning action would turn the milk into cheese which as it was fairly solid would not leak if you got a puncture. He actually tried to put the milk in but couldn't find a way to do it.

Tubed tyres have not been used in car tyres for years. I guess you are over 65.

Bicycles have tubes, and yes I have had lots of bicycle tyre punctures.

Forget tubed tyres, who remembers crossply tyres?

In the past I was a Reliant Robin owner, and in an attempt to "improve" the handling fitted radials Shocked tipped her on her nose (less dramatic than turning over, but scary enough) twice in a week. Went immediately back to crossply tyres and it never happened again. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

I remember crossply, but I think my first car, Ford Escort Mk1 had radial tyres.

Still a few years to go till I qualify for my pension! Smile

The FL2 is the 6th LR product I’ve owned and I have probably had a further dozen or so as my daily-driver “company car” over the years and it is the first out of all these to not have tubes!

But, more seriously, without a never ending stock of old Land Rover inner tubes what do you use for gate hinges, tree ties, tap-washers and 101 other things where neither baler-twine or WD40 are the solution? 2005 D3 2.7 Auto
