Under bonnet tell tale sign of No DPF easy guide

I think dpf came in around 2010, so if wanting to avoid is there a simple thing to look for under the bonnet, I need simple 😀

As it could be a late registered 2010 without a dpf, when is the cut off point that all fl2 have the dpf

Yes, in a nutshell if the air intake tube has the ‘organ pipes’, there is NO DPF fitted. If it’s just a big single tube with no blanked off pipes sticking out to the front is does have a DPF. (I think!) Derek Hill

Depend on the market actually.

Now that would be naughty if it had been removed, and also illegal

Didn’t think you would get a 2012 with no dpf

So vin number best way to check

You might be missing the point, some of the manifolds have swirl flaps, these have been known to fail (on lots of manufacturers eg BMW VW), so it isn't uncommon for owners to replace the intake manifold complete, with one that doesn't have the potentially damaging swirl flaps.
This doesn't mean that the same owners have deleted/bypassed the DPF - although this is in my opinion a very good idea.

Fairly sure if someone comes up with a undetectable way of ditching the DPF/SCRF/adblue system on the DS, that very many owners will opt for that when the warranty expires. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

England 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Baltic Blue

DPF was fitted to UK models in late 2010 (2011 MY) when they switched to the TD4 (150 bhp) or SD4 (190 bhp). It was also the first facelift when front eyebrows and the full width tailgate handle were fitted (although not a guaranteed way of checking as could have been retro fitted).

Australian market MY11 SD4.

No organ pipes = DPF

Eighth character of VIn is D, = No DPF.

Another way to find out, or is the VIN method indefatigable? MY11 SD4 SE Auto

As an aside I understand that Euro 6c petrol cars required a DPF from Sept 2018 onwards. Roll on electric power ! 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

I think you’ll find that the VIN method is the guaranteed way, unless of course the DPF has been previously removed! (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.
