Throttle body repair kit

Hi all, after a short trip yesterday I pulled up and as I got out I heard the dreaded squealing/grinding of the throttle body and it destroying the plastic gears . I can get a new Pierburg one for £105 but now there are a few on eBay selling the repair kit with new aluminium gears for around £30 . I’m wondering has anyone tried this with success or better to be a new one Cheers Tim

Sounds like a good idea, the problem being on mine the potentiometer (carbon tracks with delicate metal fingers) were badly worn, so it would have got me out of trouble but only as a stopgap.

LR parts have cheap ones in - no idea of the quality, box says Britpart.

Had my TB off yesterday while replacing turbo hoses... Not a big job to open her up and have a quick look at condition of the insides to make the call on which way to go.

Surprisingly mine was looking great - must have been replaced at some point by a previous owner. I'm still tempted to get that kit though to have it in the spares box.
