What is this assembly directly above the glove box?

Replacing the Pollen filter today I noticed something mounted to the car structure directly above the glove box (which I removed). It seems to contain a long cylindrical part with electrical connectors on both sides. Diameter I guess about 40 to 50 mm. (2 inches in your language Smile ).
I did not take a photo myself but got a picture somewhere on Freel2.com. (forgive me). What is this assembly and what is its function? Trying to learn more about the car. It is a MY2013 SD4 HSE.

OK, went to the garage and took some pictures as my curiosity got the better of me.
It is the passenger airbag assy.
