United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Zermatt Silver

Hi Bob

Diff oil will have to be replaced as most was lost when the drive shafts were removed.
I did consider the drain plug mod but with the luck I've had lately I'd probably Censored it up.
Anyway I have no problem removing old oil in situ, I use a brake bleed kit that runs off the compressor.

Busy putting it back together and tackling some more rear subframe rust at the same time. Sad

Have to admit I was surprised at how tight it still was to put together. Run some clean haldex oil round both surfaces and I still had to use the four bolts to pull it together the last 5mm or so. Fit tolerance must be very fine. Whistle Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.

Thanks for the encouragement Motionlnc. Thumbs Up

Thought I would share some photos of the tool I made to hold the propshaft flange whist I torqued up the nut. The handle is deliberately long so that it can be used if the unit is still on the car, the handle will contact the ground and I can then use both hands to undo or tighten the nut. Thumbs Up
