Well that confirmed I just made the correct decision on NOT renewing the extended 2 yr warranty that came with it.
Got the mot done at the dealer, but serviced it myself.

I think I might just check out replacing the rubber pipe, it's less than 6" long. The proper LR part comes with metal pipes and bits and pieces which are more than I need. There was a discussion about this on this forum not long ago. Now where is that search button ......

Interesting Email from my local LR dealer

For these reasons, the Board of Directors have taken the decision to close all Sytner Group showrooms to customers from close of business tomorrow, Tuesday 24th March.

Our workshops will however remain open until work already booked in is complete and will then support the sales teams to prepare purchased cars for delivery to our customers. Once this has been completed, our workshops will close to customers, with a number remaining open to support key workers.

We will also continue to support customers who wish to purchase cars, by launching a buy online option on our website. This will be live within the next few days and will allow you to obtain a part exchange valuation, apply for finance and have your car delivered, all without having to leave your home.

This will throw up all kinds of problems for MOT, Warranties, etc.

I note that new cars will still be available online.

(I have had a similar message from a furniture company that I bought 2 armchairs from recently, postponing indefinitely the delivery of my chairs, although I have already paid for, but then the note goes on to say that they are still excepting internet orders.) FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

It looks like dorsetfreelander may have had one of the last MOTs

I got this update from Sytner Group - my main LR Dealer.

In light of the Government’s announcement this evening, I am writing to let you know that we have temporarily closed our dealerships with immediate effect, until further notice.

As I outlined in my previous letter to you, we take our responsibility to protect our colleagues and customers seriously. As such this means that team members will not be permitted to attend our dealerships tomorrow morning, which means that we will be unable to attend to customers. Therefore please do not travel to any of our locations tomorrow as you will be disappointed.

We are mindful however that there may be keyworkers among our customers who have cars currently in our workshops.

We would ask, that if you are a keyworker, that you contact us via this email address: stayhome@sytner.co.uk. We will make every endeavour to return your car to you, but we must ensure that we do this in a safe and compliant manner.

If you are not a keyworker, but have questions about your vehicle, please also contact us via this address. We will get back to you as soon as possible.

These are unprecedented events and we anticipate that many of our customers will contact us at this time, so we ask that you please bear with us.

It was my hope that we would be able to facilitate an orderly closure as outlined in my previous letter, however the safety and welfare of all UK citizens must now take priority.

Thank you for your understanding.

They will collect your car, MOT it and return it to you

Mine was done last Thursday.

They offered to collect and deliver it.

Cost £40 odd quid with a free health check ( ha ha)
Plus a free wash and valet
Plus free collection and delivery of you need it

( but I wouldn’t want them to service it!)

Plenty of independent garages around for MOT.
I would trust them far more than a main dealer - who probably use them anyway, and charge you twice as much for the privilege.

Can’t you just trim off the end and reconnect it? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Thanks but it's too short to do that which is the real issue, if it was an inch or so longer it wouldn't be bent at such an angle and wouldn't fail like this in the first place. It's a common problem. Thanks JLR for cost cutting. I need to get underneath again and measure the diameter etc. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

As a temporary measure, can't you just do a good job of taping it up.

Or, if you have some suitable metal tubing around, cut the damaged end of the rubber tube, cut the remaining tube in half, and extend it using the metal tube.

Actually I was looking at some self amalgamating tape, the pipe isn't leaking yet I guess or it would have thrown up an error code and/or failed the MOT (remember it was flagged as an an advisory). Has anyone had experience of using this stuff or any recommendations? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Yes, it will work fine and it's usually heat and water resistant. Depending on convenience, I would check it at least monthly to see how it fairs.

Self amalgamating tape is good stuff, but although it does indeed stick like the proverbial to itself (hence the name) it can have trouble actually sticking to a substrate and can leak fluid/air between the substrate/pipe and tape. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......
