Is a GS model any good?

having had an HSE TD4 for nearly 6 years, my face bits are the sunroof, the sound system and the drive. Whistle Whistle

How much of a let down is a GS ? Rolling with laughter

Seen a nice looking one 2013 one locally. what sound system is in this model and is it any good? 2017 SEAT Ateca 4drive 2.0 xcellence (May 2022 -

Pretty good in my biased opinion. Stereo is basic but has Bluetooth and phone connectivity. Full heated leather is a nice touch. The face-lift lights, with signature drls and dash are also a welcome update. Electric handbrake with hill hold, proximity keys rather than slot into dash. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

the bottom end stereo fitted to post 2013 GS models is awful from what ive seen (ive not actually heard one) bare minimum quality and number of speakers, and you cant stream bluetooth music, only hands free calls.

I would say the MY13 XS spec is a good compromise.... but all post 2013 HSE or higher spec came with heated steering wheel Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I pretty much buy a car if the car I want has a certain 'look' Ive said it before I dont care for most freelanders most are visually bland to look at but some look good and jump out from others, this one to me is a looker, even though it is white and most on here whinge at white as do i sometimes but its smart on here even for a . . .GS Whistle Whistle

the wheels look good altho maybe 20" . . . .only 57,0000 miles

Why is the centre console the pre facelift version? Steering wheel and dash are post facelift - and that tiny screen would always grate on me... 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 Manual Dynamic

its not a pre face lift centre console, its the lowline that came on MY13 GS and lower spec models

its a really nice looking FL2 IMO though, id just miss the touch screen, music streaming and yes the heated steering wheel (once youve had heated you never back Laughing )

the wheels are non standard but I think they are off another LR model. They do look really good though.

You CAN stream music on the basic stereo by Bluetooth. I'm no musician but the stereo sound is far from awful. Sure I'd prefer the top spec touch screen stereo but it was the right car at the right time for me. I am more than happy with my GS. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

my apologies sorry, i was just going off what Id read on here and other locations about the streaming and it having 8 low grade speakers.

Like i say, ive never heard the lowline audio on 2013> models, im no music master either but i do like the sound out the High line Meridian systems.

The 13 plate on facelift got pretty decent spec vs the older GS but I think I would look for higher spec given the list of what you like on your hse
I have just gone from a 08 HSE to a 13 Dynamic
So far I am not missing anything and have gained quite a bit in my book
No sunroof on the dynamic you listed as a like but it doesn't bother me one bit I never opened it
Not sure if the sound is quite as good from the stereo I may be short of a couple of speakers now but the clarity gained from dab makes up a lot for me
I love the look of the dynamic with the different body styling
Heated wheel is great and the 19" wheels feel much more planted than the 18s
Power wise it's about the same as my 08 was remapped but the gearbox seems to have better software and changes differently and seems better

When I was looking I had a list of must have spec and then desired spec
This is the way to go when finding a car to avoid disappointment

One of my must haves was heated front screen
Good luck with the search

England

Hi,

we had a GS 2013 and the music was fine, phoned connection straight away and worked well, had Heated Front screen, heated leather seats and centre armrest, EPB, stop/start, Did Not have a sunroof but I dont like them anyway Shocked

The only think I missed is a heated steering wheel, once you have had one you realise its a necessity Cool Laughing

I liked the ride on 17" wheels as well but you can pick up 17, 18 or 19 depending what you like the look of Question

I like to buy on actual spec fitted and condition of the car and not the badge on the back Whistle

Thumbs Up .
my first ever FL2 and I did keep it longer than most other cars!
But its now gone way up Norf

the thing is on this forum ,you often see guys wanting to upgrade to hse spec all the time,so thats why i always go for top spec on any car i buy,and they sell quicker to.
