On our freelander 2 HSE 14 reg we keep getting the message "Avoid Motorways" when setting a new destination on the satnav.

We looked through all the menus but couldn't find anythig to stop this. We had a long journey yesterday of which most was on the M3 but it kept trying to "take the next junction" gave up and used apple satnav on the phone.

Any ideas please on how to stop it avoiding motorways, I've looked through the owners book but nothing jumps out at me also we tried resetting to defaults but it still did it.

In the Main Navigation menu, select Route Options, then Route preferences; tick or untick Motorways or Toll Roads.

I have made the change to toll roads and it seems to take me onto the M25 so looks like its using motorways now.

I had a similar experience when I took the car to Brittany from Plymouth to Roscoff to stay in a Gite about 50 miles from the ferry terminal. I punched in the Gite's postcode while waiting for the ferry at Plymouth and satnav said that it was over 700 miles and I would need to refuel. Turns out that the previous owner had set the "avoid ferries" option and it was assuming that I would be driving via the channel tunnel.  3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
