The wind arrived here around three and the rain at four. It’s pretty breezy but we’ve had worse.

Amazing, though, that we are only at Ciara this year, where in 2016 we’d had Imogen by now! 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Couple of extra spring ropes stern and aft on the boat, don’t want it ending up in the garden or across the fairway in the neighbours garden.

Given the sea is at the front and marina at the back of our house, applied a ceramic top up on both cars today. Expecting lots of salt in the air overnight whatever the wind direction. Everything light is moved out of the garden and will put the wheely bins in the garage tonight to avoid putting a new light lens in the missus’s SLC - as we did when the wheely bin crashed into it in the last strong breeze!

Was going to some more exposed areas of the coast tomorrow to have a little look, but the missus has flu and pretty much everything interesting local such as Calcot, Lepe etc is rumoured to be closed.

Hope it is fun to experience but not costly for folks.

Just driven 100 miles from North Yorks coast to South Yorks. Why can't they build roads that do not hold water on them and at the edges? Really dangerous. Silver 2009 HSE

Every new road built in the last hundred years has been designed to drain away surface water. And depending on the road category, will have been designed to cope with; a storm once every 25 years; 50 years or 100 years. Not every road is as important as to warrant the very expensive 100 year storm defence. It could be done but would quadruple your road taxes. The current storm Ciara is similar to the great storm of 1987, so this is a once in 33 year event.

It's not how the road is designed but how it is built and repaired, the repairs are the thing that destroys a good design and build. Road taxes have very little to do with road expenditure, if it was they would be gold plated now Laughing l my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Also the lack of ditches alongside roads. The amount of water coming off fields straight on to the road was ridiculous. The Romans were good at this 2000 years ago. Silver 2009 HSE

They've been dangerous for years, but he decides to cut them down today of all days - luckily it's not been too windy here yet.
