Has anyone had any performance upgrades done on their petrol i6 FL2? If so, what did you have done and what was the additional engine output? Tired of being whipped by girls in their GSI Corsa's!

Pete there does a unit where you can put the remap on or take it off when it goes to the dealers. he'll post the unit to you, you then down load the map, then email him it, then he emails you back with the remap, download it to the car and corsa girl' history  Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

You could turbocharge it.

I saw a car in Germany whilst at a car show last April who fitted a Volvo XC90 T-6 engine to his FL2, the two engines are identical, the sump and other dedicated ancillaries etc was transfered over from the FL2's 3.2.

There would have been quite alot of programming involved for the canbus system, but alot of what he was telling me was lost in translation. But you could use a stand alone management system to get round the can bus.

The end result was 300bhp and 344lb/ft. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I hate to think how much it would be.

However, mechanically it should be a pretty straight forward job, as both the i6 and XC90 T6 engine are identical and built on the same line.

Land Rover are looking to build a new model Freelander 2, possibly badged the HSR or new HST which features a turbocharged 3.2 engine.

The delaying factor is that Land Rover want one type of turbocharger and Volvo want a different, they need to find a turbocharger suitable for both applications.

But from what I have been told, the 'hot' Freelander 2 will have 20" wheels, Brembo brakes and the looks to scare off everything else in it's class.
