13 years and still going..........

Hi there everyone... not been on here for a long time.
Still have fond memories of meeting a bunch of you at Chicken George's summer BBQ.
Just had my 2007 FL2 through her MOT and just needed a new front spring with no advisories!

I decided, 2 years ago, to keep the FL2 for longer and had the expensive 10 year / 150,000 mile service done.

I'm still a happy and proud FL2 owner Very Happy 2002 Honda VFR800

.... and so am ! but not at all surprised.....
FL2 is as close to my ideal allrounder as I could find. Great on-road, brilliant off. Quite quick enough for any sane driver, great braking and handling. A joy to drive. Superb, safe, high driving position.... and (despite what you might think if you follow this forum!), super-reliable. Must be the most reliable LR ever made. After nearly 13 years of pretty-well trouble free motoring, with a TD4HSE and now an SD4 Metropolis, Iā€™ll never sell mine - itā€™ll see me out until Iā€™m forced into some sort of 4 wheeled motorised zimmer frame (I am 74 now...). The compromises... somewhat hard ride on my 19ā€ wheels, high initial cost - mine was just south of Ā£42k when new. A bit like its owner, quite fond of a drink......
Otherwise, nowt.
Keep on truckingā€™! I've decided to stop being a good example and will now just be a terrible warning.....
2008 TD4HSE - gone but much loved.
2014MY SD4 Metropolis - very much loved.

Oh... and I forgot to mention another great FL2 feature - this excellent Forum. A real bonus and blessing! I've decided to stop being a good example and will now just be a terrible warning.....

Exactly my thoughts, well said Glassman. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Will you so and so's stop rubbing it in

There's not a week goes by without me wishing I hadn't got rid of ours.

The DS is nice to drive, and more frugal than the FL2 but ............ it's never going to last the 10 years I was hoping for Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

What is the fuel economy of a DS like compared to the FL2? Is the mpg significantly better?

My cousin has a 2015 DS with the 2.0 Ingenium engine - admittedly an auto - and is quite jealous of the figures I get on my 2013 FL2 SD4. He's younger than me and not a very good driver (can say that here since he's not on the forum!), and tends to rag it on the motorway (even on a trip to Scotland we did with two 16ft canoes on top of the DS šŸ™„), but he gets mid to high 30s mpg, whereas on long runs I can easily get 42 in the FL2, and the dash has recorded as high as 45mpg on a memorable run from Bristol to London...
