United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Santorini Black
Bluetooth Steering Wheel Controls

Ok, I can't find anything on this on t'internet, but in case I'm missing it, I thought I'd ask.

I have been wanting to upgrade the stereo tech in the FL2 for ages but for both cost, hassle and realising that the standard head unit sounds far better than many new head units, I've decided to try and just improve the integration to my newer tech.

I have settled on (at least for just now), using my phone (which I always have on me so will always be available in the car), as my new media unit.

I'm going to use a phone mount and Android Auto, connected to the aux-in. I stream everything anyway so this makes sense.

What would make it perfect though is if I could use the steering wheel controls to skip tracks. 1st world problems and all that...

I was hoping a steering wheel interface existed that you could essentially plug inline (between steering wheel control loom and the head unit so you don't lose existing functionality), with a Bluetooth module which sends the basic back/forward/play/pause commands to a paired device.

Does such a thing exist? If it doesn't, I claim ownership 🤣🤣 Learned to drive in 2011.
Bought a Micra - great little car
"Upgraded" to Kia Sportage - hated it
Proper upgrade to FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - tailgate paint issues, fuel gauge rewire, transfer box failure at 36k miles, clutch at 60k
Reconditioned diff at 70k ish
Sold at 84k and now on a DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
