New member saying Hi. plus first question.

Hi. I have been a member of the Range Rover FullFat forum for about 8 years.

Looking to buy a Freelander for my wife. I can't see if there is an advice Topic, so just wanted to post here. I have seen a nice car locally, very clean inside and out. 2010 GS TD4. Can probably get for about £6000. mileage is 120,000. Should I be worried at that sort of mileage?

Thanks
Mike

Thanks for that. I had a Series 1 Discovery years ago. A great workhorse with 150,000 miles on her. I then got a TD6 Range Rover which I kept for 7 years. Great car but the gearbox went at about 100,000 (as was pretty common with that model). I just don't know much about Freelanders so just looking for some tips.

Thanks again
Mike

just read the link, 2 things strike me straight away :-

1) quote "from 2009, all but the base S versions got Land Rover’s Terrain Response system."

pretty sure my 2007 HSE has it . . . .

2) quote " when switching off the engine check that the throttle emits a high-pitched noise followed by a click. If it does neither, expect running problems. "

eh? Never heard any of this, car just running in at 164,000 miles . . . . Rolling with laughter

autocar says :

■ Transmission: Autos are generally okay but manuals can suffer problems with the dual-mass flywheel. Ensure the Haldex coupling has been treated to fresh oil and a filter every 20,000 miles.

Well, the haldex wont have been so well cared for if JLR servicing has been followed.
No wonder many FL2s have haldex issues. Jules

What IS that high pitched whine? I hear it and wonder if something is about to detonate MY11 SD4 SE Auto

Hi,
we have had our first FL2 since May Very Happy

its had a service of oil and all filters and all brake pads,
only issue has been the central locking unit on n/s/f door which needed replacing

lock car, walk round and check all doors are locked, open car, walk round again and try all doors are unlocked
(£30 s/h or £70 new + fitting as a guide)

Manual box check clutch works ok or has it had one by now Question (£1000 with flywheel as a guide)

spec varies a bit, our GS has leather, heated seats, arm rests no satnav

£6k for a 2010 with 120k seems strong?

Thumbs Up .
my first ever FL2 and I did keep it longer than most other cars!
But its now gone way up Norf
