United States 2008 Freelander 2 i6 SE Auto Tambora Flame

This is a great post

My LR2 is a 2008 with brake shoes in the rotor hat.

But my 2010 S80 (a first cousin to the Freel2) has the electric parking brake

I am going to try this procedure on the S80.

One last comment/ question

I recently discovered that the S80 will automatically release the brake if the drivers seatbelt is latched and the automatic is in D and you press the go pedal

A useful feature for a hill start.

Does the brake in the Freel2 work this way?

I am starting to think that this is an overlooked upgrade to later Freel2s (Maybe that’s only me that overlooked this)

Thanks

Paul

I replaced the rear pads and rotors on my S80 today.

Unfortunately the procedure didn’t retract the electric parking brake.

I was able to retract the EPB by using an old battery charger as a power supply.

When I went for a test drive I also tried the EPB with the car moving.

It works really well.

As far as I can tell it used the ABS pump to activate the brakes.

I am sure that this is better than the shoes in the rear brakes on my LR2.

Now I am even more impressed with this EPB.

Thanks

Paul
