silicone turbo hoses -preventative maintenance ?

At what mileage do the turbo hoses start to split ? Mine has done 55K miles.

As some hoses require the bumper to be removed to gain access I was wondering whether to change to silicone ones as preventative maintenance in anticipation of an otherwise very inconvenient loss of power.

Maybe something to do whilst awaiting its visit to Bell re PTU noise Sad Jules

Jules mine went at about 80k miles, only lasted a year (britpart) and replaced again at 92k just last week.
Thinking exactly the same as you, replace them all with silicon, hopefully fit and forget. I'm only seeing the hoses from intercooler to throttle body though in silicon, not the turbo to intercooler.
If anyone can provide a link to a seller offering all 4 hoses? Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I might give these hose manufacturers a ring and see if they do all four.

On here it appears to be sold as a complete lower unit

Sadly the offer from DPH Turbo to Intercooler hose hasn't been available for some time and they are in no rush to bring it back

From past experience hoses tend to fail if they are contaminated with oil, I checked mine recently all bone dry and look in good condition at 70k miles but will give some thought to perhaps changing them before winter If I keep my FL2 as now retired it only does minimal milage ! 2013 FL2 XS.

Don't think they make hoses specific to our cars.

Does anyone have the internal dimensions of the very short hose from the air box line to turbo cold side intake part LR025326 shown here

Personally, I would weigh up the costs, Original V Silicon,
No worries as the originals will fit and if they are lasting 10,11,12 years plus,
then to my mind I would still consider them.
How long are you going to keep your Freelander?
And it's not like you can admire the pretty colours of the silicon's anyway. Whistle DAVE.

May be dry on the outside but they will be oily on the inside - courtesy of crank case ventilation Jules
