Hello, I have a 2010 TD4 freelander, the heater is blowing out hot air. I used to keep it set on around 20 on the dash dial and it was fine. But now it blows hot air most of the time. I can turn it down to minimum setting and it will blow cold air but as soon as I turn it up 1 click on the dial it blows hot air, too hot! It reacts the same if AC is on or off.
Anybody have any idea what the problem is?

I took the car to my local independant land rover garage and they diagnosed the problem to be a broken sensor, the one in the dash just below the key fob holder. Cost £45 for the new bit and a couple of hours labour.

Could be the AC needs a refill

Took the advice and had the aircon recharged but still same problem!
The temperature knob, wherever it is set has no effect on the actual heat that its blowing, it just remains very hot. Unless I put it on lowest cold setting then it is as expected blowing cold air.
Have tried all the Button configurations Auto/Manual.
Anybody have any ideas as to what the problem could be?
By the way kwikfit are doing ac recharge for £39 rather than their usual £59, winter price!

Can you see the impeller turning on the cabin air temperature sensor aspirator?

Behind the steering wheel, on the inboard side, is a set of grills, about an old 50pence piece size, run the vacuum over that (not on max suck) and see if it gets better.

I can only suggest that the thermostat control will shut the water valve on cold setting but the movement away from cold the signal goes open circuit, suggesting that the potentiometer controling the water valve is broken whether it is directly off the dial or a software drive you need to ask Alex_Pescaru, that's his sphere of expertise my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

What is your FL2 spec and what type of Climate control do you have.

Also have you any error codes showing.

The Climate Control is computer driven via the Can Bus with several controllers and many sensors. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 76k+ miles) (MY2015)

What outside temperature does the car think it is?

The passenger side door mirror contains a temperature sensor, this is used to calculate the amount of warm and cold air to blend for the cabin. If the door wiring is faulty and it thinks the outside is -10C then it will add a lot of warm air to the "cold" air coming into the car.
Setting the climate control to Low overrides this blending. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
