10 Year Service Geekery

So, my 9 year old TD4 is currently in the talented hands of Mikey at MMP Land Rover for its 10 year big service. It's a year early but I have the funds now and the only chance for it to be away for a few days while I'm on holiday. Starting new training next year so won't have time or funds then.

So, as well as it getting a thorough going over, it'll be getting the hand brake sorted, steering wobble looked at and the haldex serviced.

Sad to say but I'm quite excited by all that work getting done 🤣 Learned to drive in 2011.
Bought a Micra - great little car
"Upgraded" to Kia Sportage - hated it
Proper upgrade to FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - tailgate paint issues, fuel gauge rewire, transfer box failure at 36k miles, clutch at 60k
Reconditioned diff at 70k ish
Sold at 84k and now on a DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental

hello, how did your service go?

We brought our Freelander 2 a couple months ago now he is 9 years old and covered 104k miles so had the timing belt/ water pump coolent flush done etc at my local indy garage.

We are heading down to Steve Toyer LR in Penyrn Cornwall next week to have the auto box flushed, haldex removed and serviced and the diff/power transfer fluids changed.

Did you notice any difference in your car? Always find the placibo effect takes hold of me after any work Very Happy

Hey. Service went fine. Everything done that needed done. Definitely better fuel consumption and no jumpy judders in first gear which I think was from a cheap fuel filter.

Sadly it looks like a wheel bearing is on the way out though so that's gonna need sorted. Learned to drive in 2011.
