2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Stornoway Grey
Vibration at idle

I have recently had an issue where there seems to be excessive vibration coming from somewhere in the engine bay. It went away once speed increased, but was also intermittent. Took my car to the garage and they diagnosed the over-run pulley on the alternator, apparently these are fitted to reduce the vibration and backlash, but they seize up and will free themselves for short periods, however eventually they will seize for good before breaking the alternator. Cost £125 including labour (not a main dealer)
Forgot to say it's a 2013 SD4 auto @ 70knives.
I hope his helps if you have had similar problems

Thumbs Up that's worth making a note of, as our motors get older.

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Santorini Black

As a complete newbie to that area of things, is there any way to manually check the current condition to pre-empt the issue? Learned to drive in 2011.
Bought a Micra - great little car
"Upgraded" to Kia Sportage - hated it
Proper upgrade to FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - tailgate paint issues, fuel gauge rewire, transfer box failure at 36k miles, clutch at 60k
Reconditioned diff at 70k ish
Sold at 84k and now on a DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
