Sold Land Rover Defender 110 Wolf TUM Soft Top

If you are looking for one of the coolest looking, hard as nails and most practical Defenders, this has to be it.

Not loving the New Defender looks?

One of the very latest releases from the MOD - a 1998 vintage. This is now the ultimate heavy duty all purpose soft top 110 Defender you can get. With the sides rolled up or the roof fully off this is a head turning vehicle on the road. With all of the FFR parts removed internally you have maximum usable space and less weight to carry around. Unless you are going to have a ‘show’ vehicle or pretend to be in the Army, all that gear is just getting in the way.(I have kept everything removed)

Being ex-military doesn’t mean it has to be an absolute pig to drive. The Wolf came with a 300 Tdi and PAS as standard, which means it has the most reliable and robust engine ever placed in a Defender, plenty of power and is as comfortable to drive as they get. It also has front and rear disc brakes rather than rear drums of the era. . The REMUS upgrade means it has sound deadening acoustic matting fitted too along with the chassis waxing mentioned below. Having been fully serviced with genuine parts, it drives beautifully.

This Defender also wears its battle scars with pride and has a history. Having served with 2 Royal Anglians, it’s likely to be have been based with them in Iraq and /or Afghanistan. The drivers seat box still has the sand in it that it came home with! (this is the only bit I have not cleaned, as I felt it is part of the Defender’s story)

The chassis on these are XD i.e Extra Duty and very strong, the toughest chassis ever put on a Land Rover. They are waxed with Dinitrol by the Army and this one is immaculate, no rust or corrosion at all anywhere. You won’t believe it till you see it. The bodywork has been professionally resprayed in NATO Green.

Many of the must-have Wolf features are present such as the Pioneer tool fixing kit on the bonnet and wing, the radio boxes, the radio antenna candlestick mount, quick release light guards and flag carriers. It also wears the military issue Michelin XZL tyres on the Wolf Rims (the must have steel wheel). It also has the diagonally split sliding windows with working locks and I have re-felted the channels so no rattling glass or leaks. It is also fitted with convoy lights and the latest NATO 6 way switch

Everything works and now that I have spent over £1000 having it serviced with genuine Land Rover parts at a Land Rover specialist garage, MOT'd and registered, all you have to do is tax and insure it to drive it away.

You can buy one of these from an MOD specialist that will not have been serviced or re-sprayed and it will cost you at least £20K after VAT.

Here’s the spec:

1998 Defender 110 Wolf TUM FFR Soft top 24V 2.5 300 Tdi with Power steering.
Showing 140,000KMs (approx. 86,000 miles)

Remus upgrade, Acoustic matting, fully waxed chassis and body work/engine bay.
Brand new 12 months MOT
Fully UK registered with the DVLA (R918 XSW)
Full fluid drain and change on front & rear diffs, transfer box and gearbox, swivels topped up.

Local Land Rover specialist garage has done the following too:
Engine has had full oil service to include Oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter
Engine also had camshaft drive belt, tensioner and idler and front cover seal/gasket, front auxiliary drive belt replaced, all using genuine parts. The garage also replaced all of the rear trailing arms bushes.

5 matching Michelin XZL 7.50 x 16 tyres with good tread depths

New parts fitted:

Steering wheel
Indicator Stalk
Wiper Stalk
Hazard Switch
Pioneer Toolkit Straps
Front door seals
Door tops re-felted
NS Vent seal replaced
Vent control arms replaced both sides

Having driven these from when they were first taken into service I can say 100% that they are a joy to drive. Very light PAS, powerful (minimal weight compared to civilian 100 300's) and just all round awesome. We used to cruise the auto bahn at 90mph all day long comfortably and they will keep up with V8 defenders without breaking a sweat but with them having more torque could places the V8 couldnt.

If I had 18k to spare I would snap this one up in a instant.

GWLS RRUK, it looks worth every penny Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Excellent looking vehicle !
Went to look at a Wolf 110 back in July. Unfortunately the vendor had just sold it when I arrived . I have owned loads of Lightweights and ex-mod series 109's , 90's and 110's over the years. I had an itch to scratch and wanted another Defender, and a Wolf is what I was after since I sold my Lightweight back in January.
The vendor persuaded me to take out one of the 90's . It took me back, I can tell you ! The noises, smells , everything. Excellent condition, mint chassis and bulkhead and only 1 layer of factory applied paint ! The 300Tdi pulled like a train and was a revelation compared to my old 2.5 NA.
Only fault was one of the sliding door tops rattled like a Censored - My old 110 had one that did the same !!
SWMBO fell in love with it. But I really wanted a 110 as they're far more practical - especially with those side lockers.
However, SWMBO had one of those faces on her that said "buy it". I still wanted a 110, but I knew she would be more comfortable driving a 90 and it also meant she could get rid of her old Ford Puma and drive it as an every day vehicle.
We agreed a price and SWMBO had the biggest grin ever - until the vendor dropped the bombshell that the price was +VAT !
That was well over our budget, unfortunately. Maybe next year...............but I'll get my way and have a 110.

Good luck with the sale. I can't see it hanging around too long.

Well the good news is the door tops don’t rattle at all, as I replaced all the window felts so they are tight as a drum.

I also have a hard top 110 Wolf which I am keeping, I just think they are awesome. 1998 Defender 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF

They're a brilliant drive, I remember them coming into service and quite a few being stacked as the lads were used to the sluggish 90s and 110s, quite a novelty at the time.

This is a great car. I'm very surprised that it hasn't sold @ this price, but I suppose the time of year has something to do with it.

GLWTS in 2020.
