i6 . Full tank but only reading 1/2.

Think it's the dreaded (and expensive) fuel pump failure. Filled car to the brim Thursday night. Driven approx 5 miles since. Then got in and started it this morning and noticed the gauge was reading just under half with a range of 87 miles !!
Censored .
I took a gander at the "fuel pump" posts but they all seem to refer to the diesel.
Could there be a different fault with it being petrol ?

Thanks mike e. I've just had it on my icarsoft with the engine running and it's shot up to the near full position. Spent 1/2 an hour or so repeating the start procedure, running diagnostics and checking data and it seems to be where it should be now. Hopefully just a sticky sender, but I'll be keeping a very close eye on it.

If you have brimmed the car it can't be the in tank fuel pump, this only transfers the fuel for one side to the other and you would always have at least half a tank even if it failed. Actually quite a bit more, they are saddle tanks, but the "link" is quite deep, so think 2/3rd of a tank if the pump fails.

You could try the expensive option of changing both fuel gauges (one in each saddle) but following the bulletin and repairing the wiring works most of the time. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
