Rear headrest android auto integration

Another post, another pi. I managed to get hold of some brand new genuine rear screens with fitting kit. So got these installed (after chopping the old headrests up as the colour was wrong) and began thinking of a good way to get content into them.

Some of you may of seen that I have android auto running on a raspberry pi in the front. So hooked the screens upto another pi, I then created an app for the front one, that queries what films are on the pi, displays them as a list, then when you select one, it tells the rear pi to play it via Kodi.

Anyway, video below, excuse the poor angle and dodgey music!

Great Thumbs Up
Much better idea than shoving another DVD player on the OE rear screens.
Does the PI have a remote? That way your rear occupants could control content.

No remote as of yet, there are plenty of Kodi based ones out there, so may go for one of those. The Kodi pi is acting as a wireless access point so the usual phone apps should be able to do it too.

When the little one gets a bit older can even install some games on it to keep her entertained

I am highly interested in what kind of touch screen did you use for the dashboard navigation?
