LR2 Powered Steering

Just got my first LR2 SD4 HSE 2012, yesterday my powered steering went off making a slow right turn into a car park, lasted for about 30 seconds with a whirring noise, then came back on again, drove around for about another hour no more problems, checked fluid levels it's between min and max, should I take it back to the carage or wait till or if it happens again

I would take it back. If the steering was to fail again when you were travelling at speed you might not be able to steer away from a potential accident as the steering will be so heavy you will hardly be able to turn the wheel. It could be something simple like a slipping belt or dirty fluid /blocked reservoir filter but you don`t want it happening again so need to get it checked/fixed! Good luck! (Oh and welcome!) Thumbs Up

Sounds like the idler pulley is about to sieze, it will not get better on it's own, and when it fails the belt will shred making steering fun.
Could always be a pump about to fail, the filter in the reservoir clogs, starves the pump of oil and kills the pump - could try changing the reservoir (filter is not removable) and oil. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner
