Battery dying? Recommendations for replacement please

SD4, nearly 5 years old and 40K miles.
Still with the original battery. Its a Varta with a JLR sticker But not sure which version it is as I cant see down the sides without disconnecting it.
Starts normally but last few weeks getting an irregular "low battery" warning during starting. Now when starting with "ignition only" getting "Low Battery, please switch engine on ... etc every time.

Its charging Ok. Battery voltage with everything off is 12.22v and with ignition only on is 12.04v. So I guess its on its way out and its not an electrical gremlin throwing up false warnings.

Ive put my reg plate into various battery websites and get different batteries and different sizes (some clearly smaller than the current battery which 315mm long.)

Anyone know what the battery I should be searching for ?

Am I right in thinking I dont need an AGM battery as the SD4 doesnt haver Stop/Start ?

Had a look on ECP - crap search engine and very expensive - cheapest is £300 for 800A Jules

Bought the replacement for ours at ECP, the BIG Varta battery and must have been lucky as it only cost <£90.....although there was an offer on but I think just 50%, that £300 sounds really expensive. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......

There is a discount code to use which brings it down to £149.99.
Still expensive though!

Got the Varta F19 for £95.26 delivered from Tayna. Arrives tomorrow.
That includes a small extra discount you can get with a promo voucher I found that doesnt require signing up to anything. Jules

The ECP search using my reg plate comes up with a Varta battery - no details about battery offered apart from size - its too small . But if on the pic its says E44

Pretty hopeless IMO Jules

No not F21. That's an AGM battery. The SD4 doesn't have stop/start so AGM not required. Jules

I bought the F19 Varta recently. It fits well although it must be a bit taller than the original as the battery cover just about fits over it.
Good battery so far with no more warning errors just as you had.

Just looked up f21 and f19, they are both same dimension and power but the price difference is quite big.
I am still on the original after 6 years and still stop-start from time to time. I only used the CTEX MX5 charger once to recondition it last year. Yours is one year younger than mine so may be you should recondition yours?

Hi. I've used my CTEK to do the full reconditioning but to no avail. I really don't want the FL2 conking whilst on holiday. So I'll change the battery. The old one can go the Series 3 as it doesn't have a working battery at the moment. Jules
