United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Firenze Red
Powerful UK Freelander 2 Roof Rails back in stock

Just had an email from Powerful UK to say rails back in stock, so I ordered a set.

https://www.powerfuluk.com/index.php/catal...-lr006608/

I know there are cheaper ones on eBay but I think these are better quality and also you get a few bits to help fit them. I hope I have more luck than those bloody awful Heko wind deflectors!!
Any advice on how easy it is to do would be grateful

It's all quite straight forward really,
I did mine (genuine) in 2016, the only tricky bit I felt was drilling the front strip as the hole needs to be
accurate in relationship to the new stud,
also be careful not to over tighten that front stud.
Dave

PS I've recently fitted wind deflectors (Climair) and the only way I could fit the fronts was to trim them!! Censored DAVE.

Thanks for your reply Dave, I will make sure I nip that front nut rather than go mad at it! re the wind deflectors I am in a bit of a battle with HEKO at the moment sending info and images and as you can see from this one they asked for re size, it looks too big and no wonder it snapped when I tried to "flex" it into position!

1] Before bolting the rails down to the prethreaded bolt holes, run a chaser bolt down the thread to clear ir out and prepare it for the bolts.
If you don't you risk snapping the bolts as you try to tighten them down.

2] Found that it was best to assemble the rails with the bracing bar attached, then fit.
[rather than fitting each rail and trying to attache the brace bar] FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

What ronp suggests.

Make it up first, the online video that Powerful have prepared isn't the best, and I wished I had made mine up before fitting it.There are some really fiddly bits to do with the bracing bar that they skip over in the video. Updated- Waiting for a Scotland v England 6 Nations home win. 24th Feb 2018

The bars have arrived, I am taking it for its MOT Monday then on to a good friend who is an indie who did a brilliant job rebuilding my wifes 17 year old Focus and bringing it back to life, welding brakes cambelt suspension etc etc, he will help me fit the bars as well as service the car Thumbs Up

Heko got back to me and fair play to them despite saying the wind deflectors were the correct ones they have refunded my money and told me to keep the other three deflectors as they do not want them back. 2014 Freelander 2 XS TD4

to be honest I wish he had condemned it but the dear wife loves that old motor, it cost me £1100 to get fixed, that was both rear sills knackered, rear inner wheel arches rebuilt as they were like a pepper pot, rear springs waxoyled underneath, front suspension bushes and track rod ends done, rear brakes serviced new front discs and pads, new brake fluid oil filter and service, new cambelt and water pump exhaust bracket welded as old one fell off! Other stuff I cant remember, painted all sills etc. He has just quoted me £40 labour for helping to fit roof bars and change oil and filter on the Freelander, only done 1500 miles since I had it last August, the fuel and air filter were replaced in the service after I bought the car. I bought Millers XF C1 Longlife oil 5W30 10 lires for £65 delivered! 2014 Freelander 2 XS TD4
