Blackberry Bluetooth

Hi,

The last tread on the issue of bluetooth connections was so cluttered so I have started a new one.
Like many other FL2 owners I have been unsucessful at getting a connection between my Blackberry Pearl and the FL2.
Has anyone cracked the problem yet? Rolling Eyes
I have drawn a blank on the Blackberry forum.

I have no problem syncing my Blackberry Pearl with my car, in fact this is the only phone i have been successful at using with my car. I have tried various Nokia's, Motorollas and Ericson's before this.

The only oddity i seem to recall is that the car found the phone first time ok but didn't sync properly it was only after getting the phone to find the car that it all worked correctly. Otherwise no problems. The phone book uploads and all numbers available to dial. The only unexplained problem is that when phoning certain people in certain cars the call quality is very poor but on the whole it is ok.

I am still not convinced with bluetooth connections and would prefer a good old fashioned cable connector to a manufacturers car kit. Never had any problems when using Nokia phones and nokia car kits on my previous cars.

my blackberrry 9000 (bold) syncs without a problem. It will occasionaly drop and has to be manually re-selected.

On the Pearl, have you downloaded the Bluetooth Pairing app from Blackberry's site?

My problem is that I know have a Storm, but it doesn't copy the phonebook names, just numbers.

As above, you need the Pairing App from the BB site. http://www.blackberry.com/devicesoftware/entry.do?code=bluetooth This will enable you to key in a selected pin code. Chris

Have you tried at updating the software on your blackberry? If you're on a particularly old version, this may affect it. I never had any trouble, but then again I was always running the latest versions.

Hi,

I had been using the wrong Bluetooth code to try and pair the phone. I found a handbook supplement that gives another code of 2121 which worked and now all is working. Whistle
Thanks for your help

Is this in an FL2? I thought it was the RRS/D3 etc that used the fixed code of 2121, and the FL2 had a changing code.

How strange. Never heard of this before.

I seem to recall reading this on ownersinfo what looking at the phone side of the radio that some of the later edtions of the manual had 2121 as the code

I thought it was another LR misprint Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Hi,
Sorry but I'm back again. It is strange that I used the code LR gave me for the Nokia phones, that gave no problens with the pairing and both 6300s work very well. I found the 2121 code in a supplement tucked in the handbook folder which worked with the Blackberry BUT:

I thought that the problem was resolved but it only stay paired for a couple of minutes and the LR drops the connection. As soon as it was connected I tried to call but the Blackberry rang but not the car. Then it dropped me.

Is it worth trying the dealer?

unless the phone is on the "phone list" and is the correct version then the dealer would do a thing

Is there any setting on the BB that says automatically allow connection without been prompted to see if its allow or something like that. Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Normally, on a BB, you go into the bluetooth settings, then when you've highlighted the device, click the BB button, and select device properties. You can then set the Trusted setting to Yes.

Then it should just work.

Before going to the dealer, I'd update the software on the device. If you go to the Blackberry site, you should be able to find instructions, but let me know if you need a pointer, as I've done it no end of times at work.

When you've completed, you may or may not have to recoonect it to your Blackberry server/BIS service.

Hi Rich,

I had allready downloaded the Blackberry Pairing Helper Application.
Followed your instructions, On the BB, Set Up Bluetooth-Paired device land rover- Device properties- trusted yes. and the phone was set Yes for trusted.
Tried it again in the car and connected but it dropped the connection in about a minute. I can search and find but it just drops the connection!
Sorry to be a pain, but thanks for your patience
