JLR and BMW get even closer

Was aware that the current V8 was to be replaced with a BMW unit and of the plans re electrification but seems the plans will go even further than that! Andrew

Have LR got a foundry at Wolverhampton?

Not familiar with the engine plant, if no foundry then it’s just an assembly plant anyway, they could carry on but with components from BMW, if they so wish.

All depends upon the final deal. Regards

They don’t have a foundry, the head and block are cast elsewhere, but they, along with the crank are machined at the Wolverhampton factory. The bit you can see as you drive past on the M54 is the machining hall for the 4 cylinder engine. The assembly halls are behind.

Does the BMW Hams Hall plant have a foundry, or do they ship the components in to machine then assemble?
