Technical

Hi all after some technical advice I have a freelander 2 sd4 Gs automatic.over the past months have started having a few issues it all started with the central locking not working properly would unlock but not allow me access to the car, then lock unlock and would only open drivers door, this is still ongoing. Then I started loosing power almost like it was being pulled back then released, That then stopped and today started the car fine moved it to clean it went to start it nothing ended up having to jump start it came up with battery warning light where the radio dash is, my brother in law thinks it could all be linked, any ideas please

Starter batteries have a life of 4 years after that you are on borrowed time. Also not to forget that the battery will be older than the car & a battery's life starts counting down from the day it was manufactured. My battery was a year older than the date I purchased the car.

If you don't want to be stuck in the outback put in a new top quality battery. I have replaced mine myself & all I had to do was reset the clock. If you do a search there are plenty of threads on this subject. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Lightwater, I don't think Sussex has an outback as such Laughing

But very good point, new battery and lots of little things righted themselves Thumbs Up

PS. Welcome Morgs nice to meet you.

It was tongue in cheek, but living in the city the nature of remoteness depends on one's circumstances!

I posted the following on another forum as the owner's car did have an old battery:

'Another neighbour, I think I saved his life as their car had a flat battery. He knocked on my door asking if I happened to have jumper leads as the NRMA (road service) were about an hour away. His wife's baby was on its way!'

I try to minimise the risk of Murphy. The car will always fail at the very most inconvenient time!

Replace the battery & go for quality to save your life! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

There are definitely areas in Sussex with no street lights and yellow paint on the road - does that count? Smile

BTW I agree probably an old/failing battery Thumbs Up No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS
