United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Santorini Black
64 plate Freelander 2 approaching 90k, what's worth doing??

I've got a '64 SE SD4 auto that's about to clock over 90k miles. I've had it 2.5 years and have just done servicing and brakes (inc. fluid), and power steering fluid. I really like the car and think I'm going to keep it for another year or two.

What is worth doing at 90k, I've read about the auto fluid and diffs/haldex etc, is it worth paying a garage to do all the fluids at this milage? Is it worth doing coolant flush etc too?

the steering feels a little vauge, so I was wondering if bushes / ball joints etc star going at this kind of milage?

cheers

Andy

At approaching 90,000 miles I'd be thinking cam belt and tensioner even if that's a little early against the latest LR recommendation.

Cheers, are they belts or chains on these engines? 150k miles seems very high for a belt !

It has both chain and belt although only the belt is a service item! There is a short chain that connects both camshafts and the traditional rubber toothed belt that goes from the crankshaft to one of the camshafts. I did my original belt at 132,000mls on my 2012 HSE when I first got it a couple of years ago and the old belt was still like new. However I believe that Land Rover has reduced the recommended mileage intervals down a bit from the previous 150,000mls recently. Thumbs Up

I'm in a similar position and thinking to get fluids done. Brake, ATF and Haldex.

First Auto I've had for more than a year, so nervous. It's also hanging on gears but that could be the self learning TCM getting upset having gone from 600miles a week to 80miles.

Belt will get done next year I think.

love the way the F2 drives though
