Burning smell underneath when reversing uphill

Hi
When I reverse park at a place I go regularly with a short steep-ish gravel car park, I notice a strong burning smell from underneath the car. FL2 TD4 2009 Auto.

I'm a bit bamboozled by whatever 4WD thing is under there, and a bit frightened too, tbh. I have had the rear diff replaced by a Bell reconditioned one a few years ago.

Is there something down there that i can fix or repair or replace or take to garage to do, or is it a sealed unit and leave it until it expires?

I did search using "burning smell underneath " which led to "clutch" issue but am none the wiser.

No flames or screaming.

Regards

Are you sure it’s not just exhaust gases your smelling as the car is making a bit more effort climbing in reverse and your going “into” the gases? Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......
