A roof rack could be a good option. It looks like they'll be easier to secure. I've got a standard mountain bike on order, I'm thinking about getting an E bike next, I don't know if I'd want to put a 22kg bike up there.

I'm picking 2 bikes up next Tuesday. I'll let you know how I get on.

You do not want to be putting 22kg up there for something you are constantly moving. That's why I used a maximum 10 litre fuel container. The spare wheel is 27kg & is really difficult to get up on the roof & potentially dangerous if you drop it.

buy folding mountain bikes, I got two in my i6, tight squeeze though.

I thought about that when I only had a hatchback. Now I've got an SUV, I want to make use of it properly.

And, there's limited choice for folding bikes, Montague look to be the only brand that make decent folding bikes. It adds extra weight and they're more expensive.
