Does the AC get serviced by LR during a routine service?

My MY13 has been dealer serviced from new, but I'm sure the AC isn't as good as it used to be. Is the AC ever checked/recharged as part of any of the services? Updated- Waiting for a Scotland v England 6 Nations home win. 24th Feb 2018

From what I can see, it's not on the servicing schedule, so you would have to ask for it to be done, or better still, take to an air con specialist. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

Superchips Bluefin Flash
Nanocom Evo II (also sold)

Not sure if they still do but a few years ago Kwik Fit (don’t laugh) used to do a AC service with a guarantee that if it didn’t drop the output temp more than before (or down to spec) the service was free, now I would never go to Kwik Fit for tyres or alignment but AC servicing is an automated process, and I had several vehicles done and all were better after than before Thumbs Up Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......

AC system isn't meant to need servicing, although that isn't always the reality. Hence it's not on the service list.

If the AC is used regularly to keep oil circulating then the neoprene seals and joints won't shrink and leak. After that you'll only really have a problem on the Freelander if the pipes corrode through or the condenser gets holed by a stone.

There isn't a 'service' for the refrigeration system but many people will recover the refrigerant and put the same stuff back in, some times a little extra if your low, and charge you for it. The machines do not check for leaks properly/robustly, a vacuum leak test will drag leaking seals closed, then the gas comes straight back out. Leak tests should be done under pressure, not vacuum. I would always recommend a man in a van over a machine as they generally have a much better understanding of what they are doing than a machine. But a machine is quick and easy.

Some places will spray a dissinfectant onto the evaporator, which will clean the very small area on which it reaches, or worse still it will kill the blower motor. It's not required if the filter is changed regularly and correctly.

What are you expecting/trying to achieve?

Personally Id ring around your local automotive AC specialists.

I did use Halfords autocentre for AC service on my BMW a couple of years ago - they did a good job and got the AC working again. They now want - £80 for inspection and full service. Jules

I had the aircon on today and mine ain't cold enough, so I will have the gas and oil replaced. It was £50 at kwik Censored last time I had a car done even they can't mess it up as a an automated process.

Halfords sell the Autoglym Aircon disinfectant.....will cost you £9.99 and about a quids worth of diesel over a 20 minute run.....got to be cheaper than a garage. Surely? MY13 HSE Lux.......faultless since new.

+1 it might have been driven to the main dealer for a service but to be serviced is another matter Whistle
