FL2 MY15 Transmission service

Hi,
My mechanic says it is hard to find oil for the auto transmission. In fact, he says that LR are claiming no change is needed for the life of the car. This seems silly to me. Anybody have an opinion on this matter?

I’d go somewhere else for a service.......it’s the normal trans oil designed for the Aisin auto boxes, which are used by so many manufacturers.

Easy to buy, just can be expensive compared with other trans oils. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Most seems to like to change at 60-70K rather than the “sealed for life (and cross your fingers)” regime by LR. Regards

David

Very interesting subject this as I went to the go to man over here to perhaps save a journey to Austin@bell and he give me the JLR line too Sad
Now I'm no expert but after heeding advice on here especially YorkieBob I will be heading for Austin as soon as warranty is out to get the lot done in one go. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

I must be lucky, I went to our local little garage (very local, very little, very tools everywhere garage....perfect Laughing ).

And I told him I wanted the engine oil and transmission oil changed he immediately asked if I wanted the trans oil flushed as well, yes....he knows what he is doing, then again he always has a couple of series 1/2 outside, the odd defender and usually a couple of roady LRs as well as normal cars. When booking it in (in a real book!) he told me he would use the correct Volvo engine oil, and I asked if I could supply the trans oil he said he already had the correct stuff 3309 but I could bring mine, no problem.

He also mentioned about the autos being sealed for life and basically that is just asking for trouble, he likes to recommend every 50K max for a change.

First time we have used this garage and looks like he knows exactly what he is doing. Regards

David

Having seen the difference in oils, a flush is always advised

I used this oil

I know Austen@bell does PTU, Haldex and rear diff fluids as I had my manual Evoque done there but does he also do FL2 auto box flush and service ?
