I have opened it with bikes on the back if im just grabbing something from the boot area, i would recommend taking the bikes off if you need into the boot, or putting the small bikes on the back.

Posts: 4165 | I have a Thule EuroWay 945 for two bikes which is attached to the tow bar but has a mechanism which allows the bikes to swing away from the boot to allow access which works very well. It is also available as a three bike version (947), but not sure if Thule make a similar type for 4-bikes. There are however other types that will take 4-bikes, but you will have to loosen the whole attachment on the tow bar ball to give boot access.
