United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Santorini Black
Very Low Volume From Rear Speakers

My midline Alpine stereo seems to be outputting next to nothing to the rear door speakers compared to the speakers in the front.

Balance is set at 0 and if I send more to the rear, it really dulls the sound from the front, with a lot of the highs getting lost, so sounds crap.

From your experience are the rears much quieter or does it sound (no pun intended) like I've got an issue?

Cheers. Learned to drive in 2011.
Bought a Micra - great little car
"Upgraded" to Kia Sportage - hated it
Proper upgrade to FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - tailgate paint issues, fuel gauge rewire, transfer box failure at 36k miles, clutch at 60k
Reconditioned diff at 70k ish
Sold at 84k and now on a DS. Terribly unreliable.

Rear speakers extremely quiet

I have the same fault. Considering it’s the Alpine system with over 73 speakers, awful sound quality.
Did you ever get to the bottom of this?
Cheers
Ben

It's the "fade" setting that has to be adjusted; "balance" is side to side.

I don’t think there are quite as many as 73 speakers. Shocked Maybe 9?

It has 9 or 14 speakers, depending if it's a mid line or high line system fitted.

My SE has the mid line 9 speaker system, and isn't that bad at all. It's comparable to the Bose system in our family Mazda CX5, actually the Alpine in my SE is considerably louder than the Bose system in the CX5.

With all the tone controls flat, the Freelander is missing something, but tweeks to the levels really brings it to life.

My rear speakers aren't quite as loud as the fronts, but only because they are lower down the door, especially the rear tweeters, which are a lot lower down than the front tweeters. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

Having moved to a 2020 Disco Sport SE, the Freelander's midline system blows the new one out the water.

As someone else said, you need to tweak the Alpine settings but I think it's a very good system. Learned to drive in 2011.

This is not an issue ... this is normal because the sound should always come from the front, the rear speakers should be quiter than the front ones.

I have the alpine system on my HSE free2 and the quality of the sound is very good

I think I originally posted my question because I felt the audio experience for passengers in the back was very different to those in the front. Learned to drive in 2011.

I had a Bose system in the CX7 I had prior to the FL2. The Alpine system is much clearer.
