I have a problem with my car, you can hear the cracking coming from the front right wheel (8 sec. on video), it takes 12,000km and it still does it, the most is to hear and felt it in the rain, for example, on a lever, the service technician has checked everything (CV joint ....)

Find a better service technician. You can produce the sound so it should be easy to find the problem. My car has not made this noise so it’s nothing l have knowledge of. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Not a Freelander but I had a similar sound from (as Iain says) the steering rack on a Renault Scenic RX4 which only occured at low speeds or when turning the steering from side to side when stationary. It would do it for a couple of weeks then the noise would stop for a few weeks then come back again. It was up on the ramp for MOT and we were able to determine that it was the steering rack that was the source of the noise. The car still passed and did not get an advisory and I eventually sold it on with the fault still there. Hope this helps!

thank you for every answer
I check the steering rack
I just can not understand that it does the most when it's wet for example when brake and then it's 100km silence

Please report back when you find out what the problem is as the issue you are experiencing is not a common one on the Freelander which I think is the reason you have not had a lot of replies! Good luck! Thumbs Up

Check the top strut bearing does it make the noise when you are not moving? Understeer when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower how fast you hit the wall.
Torque how far you take the wall with you.

yes sometimes, I assume two or three times crack when I stood in the spot and turned the steering wheel right or left it was same

just when I was with a serviceman it began to cracking when I started sharply turning the steering wheel into one side and the other side around 30-50 km/h in the front wheel

but sometimes when is wet cracking is hard and often

Hi most probably it is the top strut bearing that has dried up and is sticking and then releasing as you turn the steering it could also be a dried up lower swivel joint be sure to check both good luck Billy. Understeer when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
