Davanti tyres

Hi all,
Has any of our esteemed membership used Davanti Tyres?
I've had some quotes for replacing my Nokian Weatherproofs and one of the options is
Davanti Wintoura SUV or the DX740.
Cheers Thumbs Up

Until now Id never heard of Davanti.
They're a new company, been around about 3 years. Designed in the UK, made in China.

There are threads on lots of forums full of opinions about tyres - its difficult to make a decision based on them. Trying to find proper independent reviews is also very difficult - many are sponsored (as are car reviews). They also dont tell you everything you might wish to know.

For example, I bought Nokians Weatherproof because a friend was positive about them om his FL2 and various performance reviews were also positive - especially braking in the wet. However, reviews dont run the tyres for long periods, and only lately have I've come across forum members flagging the issue of severe cracking of these tyres.
Am I happy with them? yes , so far
Do they perform as expected? yes as far as I can tell.
Will mine crack ? I dont know.
If I'd known about the cracking would I have bought them? - probably not.

Having said all that - the most important thing in tyres for me is wet stopping distance -because nothing else really matters if you are dead Jules

Jules, this is why my Nokians are going, dated 1816 and split around the shoulders, my claim is already submitted,
Yes I have to say the best I have had for braking in the wet and excellent on snow.
the Davanti are a tyre I've not come across before,
(not that many year back when the likes of Hankook were unknown)
it's the reason I've posted on forums to
see if I can get end user comments,
I'm currently in the market for replacements with Michelin crossclimate SUV as 1st option, DAVE.

Our Scooby had it’s first snow and ice outing on the new rubber last week . Bridgestone Weather Control A005. Absolutely impressive . Very quiet , great traction , good in the rain , just ran up the steep snow covered drive without drama and straight through the thicker stuff on the unmade lane . They are premium tyres and carry a premium price , but I’m worth it Laughing 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Jules,
Mine have been on for 24 months now, I first noticed the cracks/splitting back in September,
I do wonder whether the very long hot summer affected them,
the good news is Nokian have accepted my claim and I'm now awaiting payment.

Martyn, I only just noticed the the Bridgestone A005 and they appear to be a worthwhile option, glad your happy with them. Thumbs Up

Hi when I bought my 14 plate Freelander 2, 2 years ago it came with a set of brand new Davanti 235/65r17 on, I have done 24k miles and they need replacing down to 2/3 millimetres of even tread left I for one will not be fitting them again, would welcome some recommendations as to best tyres to go for I do 98% tarmac driving so need a good quite long lasting tyre, in the past I had fleet cars changed every six months so never needed to buy tyres.

24k is not bad, I dont get many more miles from a premium tyre I have had continental Bridgestone & Pirelli fitted, On all three brands the NSF outer edge always wore more & every other Freelander I have looked @ does the same it must be down to the weight of the car & power steering I am guessing.

We all want value and good miles but stopping distance and noise are just, if not more important. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
FL2 MY13 TD4 GS Current

24k is not that bad a mileage, we all drive differently, so not bad,
I agree with YB for me it's wet braking and road holding and after weeks for reading independent reviews and end user feedback I was not much wiser. Confused
So for me it's premium and all season as I'm not bendy enough to change my own wheels now Sad
and I've opted for Bridgstone Weather Control A005, black an round so all good so far. Laughing

Sorry I missed this Dave , they are a very pleasant tyre to do a long distance on , nothing untoward at all noise wise. I did 300 miles on Saturday , up through Penrith and down through the lakes , there were some nasty flooded sections , hail , and a long motorway and A road slog , you will be impressed after you have run these tyres for a few months. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership
