Have now owned two FL2s - five years' ownership in total and never had that happen. I'd say you've got one, or two, faulty/knackered struts. 2011 SD4 HSE Auto

No problem here either with this one or two previous, usually they are strong enough to give a good uppercut if you don't step back quick enough. |

Always replace both at the same time.

I would say youve got a duff/faulty one there, Ive never had one go and have had a FL2 since 2009, mine will lift the bonnet on their own once lifted by about a foot or so. |

Thanks Lightwater for the link I ordered the SGS ones look more robust the landrover ones are Stabilus german and do not last |

Yep, they are cheap as chips. As I live in Australia, every couple of years I do a parts order from the UK and as a matter of course I always chuck in a set of bonnet struts AND a set of boot lid struts. My wife is a bit over 6' and let's me know as soon as the boot lid isn't working to capacity!!!
