Hi Guys,
wondering if you can help me, last week after i unlocked to car there was a clicking noise coming from the tail gate, now it has stopped making a noise and the tail gate will only unlock with the tail gate symbol on the key fob.
I think it maybe the solenoid if so is it easy to replace.
any suggestions welcome.

A 10 mm socket a Phillips screw driver a mug of tea and 1 hour of your time it's fairly straight forward

You need the later one but typically this goes wrong and its 2 mugs of tea.

I don't understand why this has been diagnosed as the solenoid.
Surely the key fob uses the same solenoid to unlock the boot as the internal dashboard switch and the external tailgate handle switch.
It seems more likely that it is some type of central locking problem, and the tailgate is remaining double locked.

It will be the water damaged micro switch beneath the tailgate strip, not the solenoid.

replaced the tailgate opening handle and now all is well
