Scuttle Panel and Wiper Arms
Following the replacement of the FL windscreen, I took a closer look at the scuttle panel and noticed the holes in the panel through which the wiper arm spindles poke - they had a gap around the hole.
Thinking that these were meant to be some form of seal, I removed the panel and took a photo or two.
The hole has an oval look to it - I don't recall it looking like this before and water would be able to pass through and enter the area under the scuttle panel. The driver's wiper are was similar to the passenger's, but the driver's side is positioned over the tray that collects and drains water whereas the passenger's is positioned over some electrics and pipework...
I tested the area with a hose and small amount of water went under the panel via the wiper spindle and it looks like there is a drain point to the right below as if some water is expected in the area. I would expect some flex in the movement of the spindle during wiper use as the stresses would be quite high and it is rubber mounted to absorb noise and vibration, but if the holes are enlarged, water ingress may not be desirable.
My question is, is this normal? Could anyone else have a look and report back? Thank you to anyone who takes the trouble to have a look.2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red

I checked mine and found that the passenger one is oval and enlarged but the drivers one forms a tight seal.
Did you have any problems with it? Im a bit concerned about mine as well.
