My neighbour's battery in his 3 year old Honda, one cell died.

When you put the new battery in did you clean the terminals. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

For me personally I replace the battery every 4 years due to the accelerated ageing that my battery gets from the hot summers here.

It can get as hot as 105F (40C) where I live in California.

When I was driving my A4 Cabriolet to work in the hot summer heat its battery lasted about 5 years

Heat is a problem down under, I have replaced the battery on all my cars every 4 years. Never had a battery issue, but I did notice that the Freelander battery was getting a whisker slower at starting the car. Over the years have jump started plenty of other cars. I always ask them how old the battery is. Not one to date has had any idea.

Battery is the number one road service callout issue in Australia, & then they get a crap replacement battery. One would think people would eventually learn! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Yes, thanks everything cleaned.

Turned out there's was a problem with the battery. Though they have told me to get the car checked out (fair point).

Used to take the battery off and charge it overnight, so don't think there was any residual charge left on the car and that would have reset everything.

England 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Orkney Grey

Hi, got my 2013 FL a couple of weeks ago and everything is good, that is till I looked at this thread & just had to go multi- metre in hand and test it, 12.07 cannot be too good, it's a Varta so will likely be 7 yrs old so fair enough, will give it a charge and see what it shows after a couple of days.
