HSE - towbar?

Hi everyone,

On the back of my HSE sd4 is what looks like a hookup point for towing electrics but there is no towbar fitted. Seems very odd to me. Is this the case for all HSE's?

Certainly looks like a trailer socket. I guess the car used to have a tow bar which has been removed prior to your ownership.

The only thing I can think of is that the previous owner fitted a tow bar and had it removed before he sold the car to me. Seems unlikely though.
