i just feel it getting it to replace my current vehicle, im hoping to have it for a long time,

i dont change vehicles had current one over 14 yrs, my local garage reckons i should just keep on the road, its never over heated, towed for the first 100k miles daily, just i cant expect it to live for ever, still on original clutch. does have sentimental value though

im after one thats been loved not just had the basics done, and to keep it moted as heard landrovers can be costly

well im afraid if i did any work the vehicle would Not see the light of day again, doubt hubbie would let is, hes as useless as me when it comes to mechanics.

eventually got a quote from dealer which i knew would be eye watering he said £1250 for 10 yr service including belts, i think that was inc vat, took ages to get a quote.

he said they dont change haldex as not needed but if wanted it done be an extra £100 as told fluid expensive

he then said then any other things they find wrong Wink

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Fuji White

Although the FL2 is a dream to drive and very capable on and off road, I am also sure that it is not cheap to run.

The official spare parts and servicing are based on a vehicle that would now cost between £30k - £40k.

On the plus side the FL2 seems well built, for example the exhaust system is stainless steel.

EGRs, DPFs, etc and lots of computer modules are just common items today and should not put you off buying a newer FL2.

You need to look at the FL2s that you are interested in because quite a lot of them have extra kit installed when new which is not always shown on the for-sale notices. I was surprised by how many FL2s were specc'ed up to the trim level above or beyond. I think the Auto gearbox makes the car.

Good Luck in your searches, I am sure if you buy one you will grow to love it, --- I did. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 82k+ miles) (MY2015)

(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Orkney Grey

An independent mechanic will do the 10 year service for considerably less than the £1200 quoted.
I came to freelander ownership after 11 happy years with a 2004 Landrover discovery. I did a lot of research on what was best to replace it with- including lots of reading of this forum! The freelander s reputation for ruggedness and reliability helped make the decision for me. It is quoted in many reviews as being landrovers most reliable product. I'm 5 months into ownership of mine and really enjoying it. Lack of boot space is my one criticism although hardly ever need it filled to capacity. The auto tows superbly.

i was wanting worse scenario for service wouldnt use a main dealer for service unless i had under warranty

Defo after one without a DPF, the track i go along is 3 miles long and its rare to go over 5-10mph if its not sheep, cows in middle its the dreaded pot holes. takes a good 20 minutes on a good day to get to public road.

Friends who had a newer l200 got rid of his now got a totally different type of vehicle and a petrol

What is a fair price, prices seem all over the place, not really bothered on colour as know i wont be able to be choosey

Thing is i probably be paying a tad more for his after the negotiations have taken place, , the warranty even if it was better than others, i couldnt see me wanting to take vehicle back all the way to sheffield, as i spend half my time up in peebles, which makes it further away again.

Lucikly im not in a desperate hurry for one, like yesterday Smile Smile but i suppose prices will rise as once winter is on the horizon
