Does anyone know for sure that we have a level sensor? I've seen so many posts on motorcycle forums moaning that their oil warning light didn't come on to warn them that their level was too low. When in fact it's an oil PRESSURE warning lamp. The problem with those is that invariably by the time you have no pressure the damage is done.

The FL2 has an oil pressure sensor, oil temperature sensor combined with an oil level sensor.

The Drivers handbook suggests that the warning light on the dash is for oil pressure, so presumably the other sensors don’t trigger the warning light? I’ve found the oil temperature sensor (with IID Tool) useful to get the oil to a “Goldilocks” temperature for oil change. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

They are incorporated into the Engine Management, maybe one light for all or 'engine' light illuminates with a fault, and maybe the level is a bit archaic in its working, such as a big change in temperature 'might' mean no oil All I know is it's there in wording.

What done is done but obviously your oil level warning system did not work and however you finally deal with it that needs to be addressed as well. Good luck as there will be little to be found on the search side of the forum for your problem.

Can I suggest in the interests of all we ask for a volunteer form some posters on this thread (who have ignored Martins clear message of late) to drain down their engine then start it up before refilling to see if the warning light comes on or not. Sounds dumb I know and a tad like ignoring what the boss has just said ! FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
