Sign of the times?

Walking through the village the other day and came across a parked Mitsubishi Eclipse SUV demo car, first time I had seen one and it looked interesting and about the right size for my needs. Anyway the important point was that written on the side in big writing was that it's available in .....PETROL. Sign of the times? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE

Going to see a lot more of this until scientists and Government advisors say Petrol is bad for the environment and we should all use diesel Rolling Eyes If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Santorini Black

I called in to my local Mazda dealer yesterday.
My brother recently bought a 62 plate CX-5 SUV 2.2D 150bhp FWD with £30 tax and real time 60mpg, and he also said he had been looking at CX-3.
So I dropped in to have a look at the CX-3, which was a nice looking motor inside and out (but a bit small for my long legs) and that was a 2.0L Petrol with quite reasonable performance and economy.

Associated with that dealers is a Ford showroom under the same roof so I nipped in there to have a drool over the Ford Edge, but the first car I saw was an Ecosport ST-LINE 1.0L 140PS and I have to say it looked very very good. (boot was very small though!)

So yes, maybe some manufactures are starting already to swing towards petrol SUV as the way forward.

Rog,my better half went for an Ecosport an to be honest I would not like to in one if for any reason you needed some acceleration a bit quick.

when people say 'like s@@t off a shovel' well this one would have stuck on the shovel.

Felt cramped as well we come away without it and we are two shorties. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

I found I had enough room for me, not bothered about passengers and the boot was adequate for me. But the 1.0L engine just wouldnt handle doing the mileage I do.

I was in there the day before, looking at the CX-3 too !

Very good car, but pricey new if you want the 150hp awd petrol. No turbo on it either. I was looking at swapping the Civic as its three years old in September. Freelander is not going anywhere.

depending on what you use the Civic for have a look at the Ecosport 1.0L 140ps ST-Line... based on the fiesta but bigger body, very well equipped and Ford have improved in leaps and bounds on build quality and interior.
