As my wheels wears on the inner edge, especially on the rears, I have suspected the wheel alignment to be out of spec. I contacted a local garage yesterday as they had an advertisement for a quick alignment control which only took 10 minutes to complete for only £20. I took the chance and had it done. The results showed that the toe in was out of spec both front and rear. Most out on the rear. The other values was within spec. This situation is not new for many of us I guess, but I was pretty impressed that there is now equipment available that can do this in under 10 minutes!! A great thing to do if only a check is needed. They claimed that the measurements was pretty rough compared to the common equipment but gives a good status. Conventional 4 wheel alignment is needed when an adjustment shall be done. So now I have booked the car in for alignment and adjust the next week, at another garage with a better price I also suspect that the inner wear may be the cause for the "bearing noise" I have had the last months. 4-wheel alignment has been done. I had to cut and drill out the old eccentric/adjustment bolts and install new for the rear links prior to the alignment as the old ones had seized solid. All angles are now within spec. No change to noise or behavior, but I hope the tires will now wear evenly.

"Bearing noise" can be down to your tyres. Goodyears, but some others too, can become very noisy once they are down to 4-5 mm. Easy to check - if it's tyre noise it will vary according to the road surface. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
