Wireless mobile phone charging area

Hi guys.

There’s an area in front of the gear selector that fits my iPhone X well.

Just wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to turn it into a Qi wireless charging area?

Cheers

An old thread, I know, but has anyone come up with a suitable wireless charging pad to fit in the space in front of the gear lever?

You can buy the Qi charging electronics for a couple of £ on Aliexpress. I made one to go in the little tray on the arm rest of my Freelander 1, using the electronic components under the plastic so was out of sight.
One of my pet hates on new car reviews is the reviewer banging on about it having wireless charging like is some expensive feature, when in reality the Qi system electronics are churned out for well under 1$ from factories in China.

I'd happily make another for my Freelander 2, but being an early model, I have the TR controls where the ideal place would be. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

Thanks, Nodge68. I assume there must be a way of routing the power cable inside/under the centre console? It’s for my daughter's car which she has only just got so I haven’t had a good look at how it might be wired.

This is what I did on my 2008 model. It’s a MagSafe compatible charger glued to a Brodit dash bracket. I now have the power wire routed behind the air bag cover on the A pillar up to the Powerful UK USB adapter connected into the interior light wiring.

It’s plenty strong enough to hold my iPhone 13 Mini.

I have had one of these ever since they were released, it works well the only issue is that the socket needs a side usb port not a top usb port because there is not a lot of room. MY13 HSE Lux Santorini Black
