hi all,

my alarm system is set-up such that, with 1 press of the "tailgate" button on the keyfob - the tailgate only will be opened and deactivated. All the other doors remain fully locked.

However, over the last few weeks when I use this button on the keyfob, the tailgate opens & sets the alarm off

Anyone else had this problem ?

My '07 XS is the same, opening tailgate only with the car locked triggers the alarm. I have to unlock the door(s) first to de-activate the alarm. Found this out late at night It seems the alarm control only works via the main door action - no mention in the handbook though.

It's worked perfectly for me since I got the car, which is just over a year ago.

It's only during the last few weeks that it's faulty.

Can't be the cold weather, because it was OK during last winter.

My tail gate opens via the key fob leaving all the other doors locked and it doesn't set off the alarm. Sounds like you might have a fault and a trip back to the dealer might be in order. ______________________

Mine started doing this on holiday in the alps. I cured it by disconnecting the battery, having a cup of tea and then reconnecting the battery.Not done it since.

There I have described in detail the fault that I think you are referring to.

My dealer cannot find a fault, but there certainely is one.

I am still looking for a cure.

I was genuinely considering disconnecting the battery, to "re-set" the system in order to see if that helped. Based on your experience, I'll give it a go at the weekend

Does it for mine as well ('07 model). Never did it since 6 months ago.
Fires off the alarm almost every time when opening the tailgate.

Service in octobre: can wait until then...

hi guys, its your tailgate switch, if you can remove the rubber trim on the switch ( stand clear orget covered in grimey water and you should find the pivot is all cankered up with a sort of corrosion, get it replaced or try freeing it off if it hasnt the microswitch, hope this helps, Richh. they all do that!

I've had this happen as well, generally at the most inconvienient moments, like 4am when I was at a bike race last week (person in the tent next door wasn't happy )

I've just taken it as one of those annoying things that not really a great problem.

My 07 GS has had this fault since new. The alarm will be triggered approx 2 out of 10 openings. The dealer has had 3 attemps to find a cure and recently renewed the boot switch, however the problem still remains. Today I noticed that when I opened the boot using the fob, the indicators flashed once and the alarm was triggered on opening the boot. On the next opening the indicators did not flash and the alarm did not sound. Dealer to look at problem again when doing the 3rd service.

I have had this problem for nearly 3 years. A few months ago I had a new rear wiper motor fitted under warranty - since then the tailgate /opening/alarm problem has stopped....so far.

After having the 3rd service/MOT completed I have finally had the tailgate alarm fault cured. Apparently there where 2 software upgrades to the body control module required which seem to have resolved the problem.

On opening the tailgate today, via the remote, the alarm sounded! This is the first time since the software upgrade and while the frequency has reduced considerably, clearly the problem has not been cured.
