Well they arrived at last and fitted today.
Very easy to install and the ballast / drivers fit inside the headlight unit leaving no outward trace that they have been modified. Ballasts secured to the bottom inside of the lamp with the supplied double sided stickers.
Had to reverse the power plug as initially not working, once swapped round they fired up straight away. Didnt take any photos of them with the lights out of the car but a few pics of the lights back in and fitted show a crisp white light. I'll not be out on an unlit road until Christmas Eve so I'll report my views on driving along behind modern lights then.  Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Got to say I'm pretty impressed with the stealth hid kit so far. Driving to work in the dark on unlit roads really shows up poor lighting and it was always a bug bear that the Freelander with HB3 bulbs was not exactly 'illuminating '.
I've heard so many disappointing stories of led / hid bulbs giving out stupid beam patterns and no actual improvement in light that I dismissed them as an option but reading the description of these it seemed they were so much better made than the cheap rubbish you buy on ebay from China and the price (£60) reasonable enough to take a punt on but not breaking the bank if they weren't as good as expected.
So first impressions, pretty good. They take a few seconds to light up to full power, maybe 5 - 6 seconds.
Beam pattern is well defined, dipping to left with a clear horizontal height line not dissimilar to what the halogen showed.



Onto a dark unlit road dipped beam is pretty good, nice colour of light and well spread. Most importantly no oncoming traffic dazzled or flashing at me so obviously correctly designed.



Next and the real test high beam, very pleased, illuminating further into the distance than before. Photos don't really seem to capture the 'depth' of light provided.






Its early days but I'm very happy. Definite improvement over standard halogen, modern crisp white light, reasonable price. Cant comment on longevity but they do have a 2 year warranty and as previously very easy to install. Might get a kit for my front fogs too.  Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Was looking at the 55w 6000k but yours looks like plenty of light.

Go for a “normal” 4500>5000 temperature light as the higher the colour temperature the less light output and don’t bother with the 55 watt versions for years I have been using 35 watt versions (as OE bulbs are) in vehicles with projector lamps with OE halogen bulbs and the HiDs have never given anything but great service, just buy from somewhere reputable like HiDs4U or Powerbulbs, they’ve been around and selling these for ages.

Thanks for the update - you say that full beam takes 5 or 6 seconds to come up to full power so does this mean you can't flash (if you will pardon the expression) someone? When you first turn them on to dipped is there a time delay?

Given the pictures I would find it hard to believe that a MOT tester would knock you back unless switching to full beam is a problem.

The main beam lights flash ok, just full light output takes a few seconds to 'warm up' I guess?

I went for the 35w 5500k kit. I did consider the more powerful kit but the basic one seems to have a decent improvement over standard and as they are not 'road legal' anyway I didnt want to be blinding other motorists. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Just thinking about lighting upgrades its amazing how car lights have improved over the last 40 years or so.
Who remembers sealed beam lights? I upgraded my classic Mini in the 90s to a set of halogen headlights and the difference there was literally night and day. Set of 100w bulbs in them was better again, until they burnt out the headlight switch contacts!
I still have a classic Mini of 1963 vintage which still has its 7" sealed beam lamps in situ, its rarely out in the dark but when it is I just love the old fashioned weak glow that they produce.  Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948
