Hi all,

Just thought I would say HI to you guys as I think I am going to be needing you help over the coming months and years.

I have just replaced my trusty Jimny for a FL2. Its a high mileage (high risk - 150k miles on the clock) fairly low value car on a 06 plate.

Having said all that I did pick up a HSE spec car with all the bells and whistles and I have to say what a fab car!! Lovely to drive.

I have a few niggles with it which I am working through at the moment but hopefully nothing too serious.

hi and welcome

just check the cambelt and water pump has been changed (10yrs / 150k service) and change all the diff, haldex, auto gearbox fluids.

AustenFL2 on here at Bell Engineering does a very good service on diffs and haldex and has been used by plenty of forum members

Oh you pessimist you!!

Well;
messages in instrument panel - nope not yet
doors not locking opening - Ish.... Had the alarm go off and would not lock due to bonnet sensor, fix: shut the bonnet properly!
wheel arch rubbers all deformed - nope not yet
tailgate won't open unless you use the remote - nope not yet

What I am sorting out is;
Rattle from the centre alarm sensor in the roof when ticking over - Fixed, removed, applied gaffa tape, reinstalled
Bluetooth module upgrade so I can pair my Samsung S6 phone - Complete and working
Fix split in side vinyl of drivers seat - glue process complete, waiting for the filler/colour kit to turn up
Fix split vinyl on drivers arm rest - open to suggestions, vinyl is very broken and missing in places so will either need a lot of repair or new cover
Replaced throttle body to fix clicking when engine turned off from under bonnet - Complete
Added EGR blanking - Complete

I am sure I will find a few other things along the way, but so far so good.

Hi Rog,

Thanks, I got the "dealer" I purchased the car from to replace the cambelt and water pump before I purchased and not that I dont trust dealers, have them give me back the originals to prove it was completed Smile

The oil services are on my list of TODOs

Holly Thread Resurrection Batman!!

Well a little update. I am off to pastures new, just traded in the FL2 or a disco4. Have to say I have loved the FL2.

So before I go I wanted to let you know what my FL2 experience was like and if like some of the issues in the threads above came to pass.

So....
messages in instrument panel - None
doors not locking opening - Yes, had to replace 1 lock in my ownership
wheel arch rubbers all deformed - Nope
tailgate won't open unless you use the remote - Nope

I have to say, for a car with 180,000 miles on it, its been VERY reliable. I did a few bits, lower front ball joints, a shock, intercooler rad etc. But on the whole the experience was good and cost effective.

The car will be very much missed.

Also have to say a big thanks for the wealth of info on this site. It really made the ownership experience much smoother.

Lets hope my disco4 experience will be as positive!

RogB, yes loving the D4. Drove it home (280miles) and managed a 33mpg average!! Was happy with that.

ive had 38mpg on commute to work but round town it sits at around 28mpg which for a 3 ton beast is pretty good I think. The versatility of the D4 is incredible

which spec did you go for ?

RogB, its a MY13 HSE Lux. It was right at the top of my budget (cough cough, aka well over it), but just crept inside the used approved window and thus came with a LR warranty and a little peace of mind. What model/year do you have to be able to get 38???

They really are an incredible car.

now your just showing off with an HSE Lux Laughing

I got a late 2011 61 plate XS spec (so its a MY12 8 speed) from a car supermarket but it was 1 owner with a full documented history so I feel I got a really good deal.
It came with reversing camera and 4x4 info and ive had the timed climate activated which was great through winter. Its got everything on it I want including the 8 speed and upgraded head unit.

RogB, sounds like a lovely car. The 8 speed box was def on my want list. I was not specifically looking for a lux, but this one came up and...well, it just had to be done Smile

I already have a wish list of things I want to do to it! Cubby cooler, roof bars/rack, maybe a set of 19" wheels for winter and I am also thinking of building a draw system for the rear.
