2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Fuji White

My Proudly South African Freelander 2 - work in progress...

Hi all,

Been on the forum for a while, but only as a reader.. got some time to spare now, so let's post up some details.

Have had my MY2011 HSE since Aug 2013 now and so far, still loving it.. very very capable and perfect for what i need. Or until i can afford a Disco that is...

When i first got her... (coming from a MK6 GTI (Stage 2+) this was a bit of an adjustment, but a welcome one)

then, 1 week later... got stuck in some mud... hehe

a few months later, upgraded tyres and got some Pirelli Scorpion ATR(255/55/19) - you don't get any kind of MT tyres in that size here in SA, so AT's would have to do.. i still wanted MT's though.. but would need to find wheels first (that i could afford, and that was available).

after that, i could play a little more... also installed a Frontrunner roof rack for longer trips with the extended family and all required options.

but then, after months of waiting, an opportunity presented itself.. a set of 17" Freelander 2 wheels. Now to get some rubber that i wanted... BFG quite costly, but these Firestone Destinations were a really good price and the reviews are great!!

then, gravel roads became a lot more comfortable...

i'll be doing a bit more hectic trails in the upcoming future, so will post here how it goes!!!

still love my Freelander!

The Firestones are 245/70/17 and have given approx. a 1" lift. I am planning on having spacers made also for the suspension which would yield another 1" and then I'm happy

Yep, is a fantastic country.. some might argue, The Best! haha..

we all belong to this forum (www.4x4community.co.za) - amazing what we have right on our doorstep.. just to go out and find it..

Thanks Dan,

I honestly thought they would be noisier on tarmac, but not that bad.. and you get used to the 'hum' quite quickly.. it's quite soothing. Then offroad, well, what a pleasure!!! Eats up the path in front...
